Zelensky signs president impeachment law

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law on the impeachment of the President. The law shall come into its force the next day after its official publication in the parliamentary outlet.

According to the law, the impeachment shall be initiated by the majority of Ukrainian MPs. The Verkhovna Rada shall establish a commission to investigate claimed allegations, including the special counsel and investigators. During a secret ballot, at least 300 votes of the people's deputies are required to accuse the president.

Constitutional and Supreme Courts shall then check the legitimacy of the application. In case of positive, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine shall take the decision to remove the President from his position.
