Uzbekistan can get an acting president today. The candidates for office were discussed today during a joint session of both chambers of the National Parliament.

Islam Karimov, who died recently, will be more likely replaced by the current Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan - Nigmatilla Yuldashev.

In accordance with the country's constitution, Yuldashev is to serve as the President until a new leader is elected by nation-wide voting. Early elections are to be held within three months.

As it was reported earlier, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov died on September 2 after a brain hemorrhage. He was buried in Samarkand.
