UN General Assembly considers draft resolution on protection of human rights in Crimea

17:52, 18 December 2019

UN General Assembly is about to consider the issues of human rights protection in the occupied Crimea. The Ukrainian draft law will be in the focus of attention. Oleg Nikolenko, the Spokesman of Ukraine's Mission in the UN said so on Wednesday, before the session began.

The document, in particular, condemns the mass detentions of human rights activists, urges the Russian government of Crimea to stop political persecutions and condemns the practice of forced military draft to Russia's Armed Forces.

The draft resolution is to take effect after the adoption by the General Assembly this month.
