Ukrainians living in the occupied areas of Donbas will get the biometric IDs only after special checks. Volodymyr Polishchuk, the press secretary of the Document Company, said that in a commentary.

Those residing in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions will have to submit extra documents to get the biometric ID necessary to travel across the EU without visas; these are their domestic passport, the current foreign passport, identification number, birth certificate or military identity card.

The EU-Ukraine visa free regime demands Ukrainian citizens to own a biometric passport; it is an onbligatory condition to enjoy the benefits of traveling across the EU without visas.
