Ukrainians mark Day of Heavenly Hundred Heroes

Ukrainians mark the Day of Heavenly Hundred Heroes today, on February 20 honoring the fallen heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

More than six thousand of law enforcers are maintaining public order in the center of Ukrainian capital today, on the Day of Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

Mourning ceremonies are held to commemorate those killed in a bloody uprising of 2014. The memorial service is being served on Maidan. The church service involving Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is held in the St. Michael’s Cathedral. The Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and the Speaker of Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy met with the families of the fallen heroes.

This day, on February 2014, the participants of the Revolution of Dignity pushed forward to the attack to occupy several public buildings. The governmental special forces opened fire on the protesters. 48 activists and 4 law enforcers were killed that day.
