Ukrainian soldiers save UN peacekeeper from the jungle in D.R. Congo

A UN peacekeeper from Malawi spent 16 days in the jungle in the Democratic Republic of Congo before being rescued by Ukrainian peacekeepers. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported this on December 5.

As is known, Ukrainian military contingent takes part in the large-scale operation against the local militants. The Malawian fighter went missing in action during a skirmish; the search and rescue operation took more than two weeks.

Eventually, a helicopter crew of Ukrainian peacekeepers spotted the man and evacuated him to the military hospital. The fighter’s life is beyond danger now.
