A serviceman of Ukraine's Armed Forces died of critical wounds at the Chief Military Hospital in Dnipro, southeastern Ukraine.

The man covered his daughter with his own body, using it as a shield during the artillery attack of Russian militants in Donbas, which took place recently.

The deceased man's name was Mykola; the 48-year-old native of central Ukraine and his daughter, a combat medic, served in the same military unit.

When their position went through a sudden attack, Mykola sustained a tough injury to the skull, as the shell exploded three meters away from them.

The daughter, Yaroslava, suffered an acoustic barotrauma and concussion. She survived and is now recovering.
