24 Ukrainian sailors detained in the Sea of Azov in November 2018 could be released by this October. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov said so in a commentary for the media. Lyudmyla Denisova, the Ukrainian ombudsman sent the respective appeal to Russia's FSB last week. Polozov added that the document is considered, but the Russian side insists that the Ukrainian side provides written guarantees.

Besides, even if the prisoners are released, the charges against them will remain effective. The Russian authority refers to the decision of the UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, saying that the decision demanded to set them free, but it never said anything about closing criminal cases against them.
