Ukrainian political prisoner Oleksandr Kolchenko announces hunger strike

Another political prisoner from Ukraine announced a hunger strike. Oleksandr Kolchenko who now serves time in Russia wrote the letter, in which he turned to the penal colony’s chief supervisor.

Kolchenko wrote that he announced the hunger strike to support his compatriot, move director Oleg Sentsov. Kolchenko demands to set Sentsov free. Russian law enforcers detained Sentsov and Kolchenko in the annexed Crimea in 2014.

Sentsov was accused of preparing terrorist acts in Crimea and sentenced to 20 years in jail; Kolchenko was sentenced to ten.
