Ukrainian Parliament to announce Zelensky inauguration date this week

20:11, 13 May 2019

A plenary week began at the Ukrainian Parliament. The key decision that the MPs are supposed to make is the date of the inauguration of president-elect Volodymyr Zelensky. There are three days for choosing: May 19, May 20 and June 1.

One of the documents registered at the session hall states that holding the festive event on May 19 is inappropriate because it's the Day of Victims of Political Repressions. There's also an offer to hold the inauguration in two stages - at the session hall on May 19, and then at Olimpiysky stadium on June 3.

The offer is based on teh assumption that a lot of foreign delegations and common Ukrainians will come to witness the event on their own.  Zelensky himself insists on the inauguration to tace place on May 19.
