Ukrainian MPs Savchenko, Ruban may be judged this year already, - prosecutor general

The investigation collected all the necessary evidence in the case of Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko and the Head of Officers Corps organization Volodymyr Ruban; the trial should start this year. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko announced this at the briefing.

“The case will be directed to the court. Judging by the amount of evidence, we believe that the trial is to start this year,” he said.

As is known, Ruban was detained on March 8 at the Ukrainian checkpoint at the demarcation line of Donbas conflict zone. He is suspected in the illegal handling of arms, preparation of a crime and terrorist action. Later, the court sentenced him for 60 days without the right for a bail.

Nadiya Savchenko, the former Air Force pilot and Donbas conflict veteran is suspected of organizing a terrorist act in the government district in Kyiv. Yuriy Lutsenko, Prosecutor General claimed that Savchenko planned an armed coup d'état, which would have led to mass civilian casualties.
