Ukrainian law enforcers get ready for Independence Day festivities

30,000 law enforcers will be maintaining public order on the Independence Day, which Ukraine is to celebrate on Friday, August 24. According to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, the number involves workers of the National Police, the National Guard and the State Emergencies Service. 

Over a thousand festive events will take place across the country, involving over 700,000 people. Most notably, a military parade will be held in the downtown Kyiv. 

The civilian audience will be able to see 4,500 people and 250 army vehicles. The final rehersal of the parade is slated for Wednesday evening. The police and the state border guards already boosted the security measures.
