A contract soldier of the Ukrainian army intended to defect to the Russian Armed Forces. Ukraine’s state security service detained him in Zaporizhya, southeastern Ukraine, where he was hiding from law enforcers in an apartment that he rented.

The man left his military unit last April, having succumbed to the Russian propaganda. He carried two handguns and almost 4,000 cartridges, which the law enforcers seized during the search – along with faked seals of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry and that of a local military enlistment office.

The investigation found out that the serviceman was going to fake some IDs to conceal the fact that he served with the Ukrainian troops in Donbas. He is now judged for defection.
