Ukraine’s President Zelensky appoints top officials at his administration

The first top-level appointments under the new President take place in Ukraine. Lawyer Andriy Bohdan became the head of Presidential Administration; he used to serve as counselor and lawyer of oligarch Ihor Kolomoysky. During the rule of pro-Russian president Yanukovych, Bohdan was the Deputy Minister of the Cabinet and the Envoy for Anti-Corruption Policy Affairs. According to the law on screening the officials, Bohdan has no right to serve in the government.

Serhiy Shefir, the friend and business partner of President Zelensky became his first assistant. Another two business partner of the new president became deputy heads of his administration.

Quite notably, Ukrainian diplomat Olena Zerkal refused to assume the office of the deputy head of Zelensky's administration; the respective order was published and then canceled.
