The incident with Hungarian passports in Ukraine is based on a major issue, which is Ukraine's relations with the Hungarian community in the westernmost Zakarpattia region. Pavlo Klimkin, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, said that during his joint briefing with his Moldovan counterpart.

According to him, on Thursday, the Hungarian side will get the note from the Ukrainian government, saying that the scandalous diplomat from Berehove, Zakarpattia region, would have to leave Ukraine. Klimkin also assumed that Budapest would not send out the consul on its own initiative.

As is known, a Hungarian diplomat offered this country's citizenship to residents of Berehove, Zakarpattya region, which borders Hungary. The Ukrainian government immediately stated such action is illegal and hurts Ukraine's national interests.
