Ukraine tributes memory of victims of Koryukivka massacre

Today, the 75th anniversary of the Koryukivka massacre is commemorated in Ukraine.

One of the most horrible tragedies of the WWII took place on March 1-2, 1943 in Koryukivka village, Ukraine. According to historians, 7, 000 people were killed in the result of the Nazi punitive operation. 1,290 houses were burned down and only ten brick buildings and a church survived.

On  March 9, the Germans returned to Koryukivka and burned alive some elderly people who had returned to the village after escaping thinking it was safe.
