Ukraine received the first tranche of financial assistance from the IMF under the new stand-by program of cooperation. The National Bank of Ukraine included 1.4 billion U.S. dollars to its foreign value reserves.

Thus, the reserves went up to $20 billion, which is the maximum over the past five years. The Directors Board of the IMF approved the new cooperation program earlier this week. It stipulates that Kyiv will get almost four billion dollars in exchange for conducting reforms.

Ukraine and the IMF have been cooperating for 26 years. The decision on the loans from the Fund are revised every six months.
