Three years ago Russia began its military invasion of Crimea.

At 4 in the morning more than a hundred military with no markings on the uniform seized the building of Crimean government. They have built barricades and raised Russian flags. The same day armed units occupied police posts in Perekop and Chongar.

Later Crimean MPs announced conducting of the so-called referendum regarding the status of Crimea. According to pro-Russian militant Igor Girkin, these MPs were forced by Russian military.

During the Crimean crisis, Russian president Vladimir Putin stated there were no Russian troops in Ukraine. A year later he acknowledged that he used Russian troops within a special operation.
