Sukhoi Su-27 fighter aircraft crashes in northern Ukraine, pilot dead

Ukraine’s Air Force fighter aircraft crashed during the scheduled flight in Zhytomyr region, northern Ukraine. The plane fell as it was landing at Ozerne air field at about 3 p.m. Saturday. Pilot Oleksandr Fomenko, the Major of Ukraine’s Air Force passed away.

The military prosecutor’s office looks into the case of a possible violation of flight regulations. The Air Force command confirmed that the plane was repaired two years ago, and the pilot was an experienced specialist.
