Former president of Georgia, the ex-governor of Odesa region and scandalous politician Mikheil Saakashvili returned to Ukraine. His plane arrived from Warsaw to Kyiv at 5 p.m. Wednesday. On May 28, he regained his Ukrainian citizenship that he had lost in 2017. President Zelenskly issued the decree, under which Saakashvili gets his Ukrainian passport. The ex-official said he does not plan on continuing the political career in Ukraine.

In 2017, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that Saakashvili financed the protests for the seizure of state power in Ukraine, using the money of the associates of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. In December 2017, Saakashvili was detained on suspicion of assisting members of a criminal gang and promoting criminal activity. In February 2018, he was deported from Ukraine to Poland.
