Russia has been preparing for large-scale military exercises in the occupied Crimea. The press service of Russia’s Southern Military District reported this, marking that the drills would involve over 1,000 servicemen and more than 50 combat aircraft, including a bomber armed with air-to-ground missiles.

The Russian Navy will be represented by ten vessels. The exercise is to be running for a week. The Russian military have been leading maneuvers and combat drills in Crimea since the annexation of the peninsula in February 2014. The Ukrainian government considers such actions illegal, as they breach the Ukrainian and the international law.
