Tokyo police stays on high alert as Russian leader Vladimir Putin visits Japan for negotiations with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In the meanwhile a number of activists rallied in the Japanese capital demanding that Russia give up control over the disputed part of the Kuril Islands.

Law enforcers kept them away from the meeting’s venue. The Russian and Japanese leaders discussed this issue among the others. Putin’s visit to Japan should have taken place back in 2014, but the Japanese side delayed the visit referring to Crimea’s annexation and Donbas conflict.
