Pro-Ukrainian fighter of Chechen origin severely wounded in Kyiv

Veteran of Donbas conflict, Chechen national Adam Osmaev was heavily wounded during a shootout in Kyiv. The incident took place in Podil district in the Ukrainian capital on June 1.

Both Osmaev and the attacker are staying in the intensive care unit as they received severe gunshot wounds.

According to the police report, the shooting occurred place as Osmaev and his wife Amina Okueva met with the attacker for an interview; the assailant posed himself as a French reporter.

The shooter opened fire from his handgun, wounding Osmaev to the chest. His wife returned fire, shooting the attacker four times, with one of bullets stuck in his spine.

The police say the shooter is most likely the agent of Kremlin, sent to kill Osmaev. The Chechen fighter is believed to be behind the attempt upon the life of Russian leader Vladimir Putin back in 2012.
