Presidential election in Ukraine free, fair and democratic, Ukrainian government

The presidential election in Ukraine is over. It was free and democratic voting, where minor violations did not affect the result. The incumbent president Petro Poroshenko recognized his loss to the winner Volodymyr Zelensky.

He called his opponent on the phone and congratulated him. He said he was ready to assist the newly elected head of the state, but warned Zelensky that the opposition will be tough.  The Central Election Committee, the Ukrainian government and the parliament also recognized Zelensky's victory in the democratic election.

World leaders congratulate Ukraine’s president-elect Zelensky

The world leaders joined the greetings and congratulations for Volodymyr Zelensky who won the presidential race in Ukraine on April 22. U.S. President Donald Trump called his electoral campaign a 'brilliant' one. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed he was looking forward to cooperate and strengthen the bilateral relations.

Polish leader Andrzej Duda already invited Zelensky to visit his country. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg added that Ukraine remains a valuable partner for the Alliance, expressing hope for further fruitful cooperation.
