Political prisoner Stanislav Klykh goes for hunger strike in Russian jail

Stanislav Klykh, the political prisoner illegally held in Russian custody announced a hunger strike. According to his lawyer Tatyana Shchur, the man protests against severe detention conditions. 'He just can't stand this anymore: that cold in the cell, that bad food, which makes him nauseous, and the oblivion is the worst thing', she posted on Facebook.

Klykh was detained in Russia in September 2014, when he came to Russia to visit his pregnant girlfriend. Russian prosecutors charged him with the alleged murder of Russian soldiers in Chechnya in the 1990s. Klykh was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
