The French police searched the apartment of the man who attacked the Parisian police near Notre Dame de Paris cathedral on June 6.

The assailant hit one of the policemen with a hammer, shouting ‘This is for Syria’; another policeman opened fire, wounding the attacker to the chest. As the law enforcers arrested him, he said he was a ‘soldier of caliphate’, as quote by the local media.

The French interior ministry reports that the aggressor is a 40-year-old Algerian who lived in Ile-de-France region. The man is in the hospital now. The police considers the attack as a terrorist act; luckliy, none of the cathedral’s visitors suffered during the incident.
