Paris Agreement takes effect today

Paris climate change agreement enters into force today, November 4. The treaty has been ratified by the sufficient number of countries, according to the UN. Denmark, Indonesia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the South African Republic applied all the documents over the last two days.

The agreement aimed to limit global warming was adopted in Paris on December 2015. All 195 countries signed the agreement.

The signatories agreed to downsize pollutant emissions in order to prevent the average temperature increase on the planet for more than 2 degrees centigrade.

The Paris agreement appeared to replace the Kyoto protocol.
