Russian presidential administration declined the appeal of Russia’s party Yabloko (Apple in English) on the pardoning of Oleg Sentsov, the Ukrainian political prisoner.

“This is an exclusive prerogative of the President. Russia’s Constitution does not restrict the president within this right. We urge to not be afraid to take this step,” the statement of the party says.

Yet, Vladimir Putin’s Administration responded that according to the pardon procedure, the convicted has to file the complaint by himself. It has to be sent to the commission of pardon headed by the governor. Then, the president has to confirm this decision.

Meanwhile, the Russian side reports that Sentsov gradually gets back to normal health conditions. After more than 140 days of starving, he gave up his hunger strike and gained weight, enjoying the usual nutrition mode.
