Old cinema becomes communication hub: Internal migrant opens NGO in Starobilsk

A driving force of the displaced people: festivals, education programs, helping those in need. In Starobilsk, Luhansk region, the people who moved from the occupied territory are doing all of that. Oksana Ochkurova together with other displaced people, founded an NGO. She adds to the development of the city, which gave her a shelter. They raised more than 37 thousand dollars of grants within a year. Recently, they opened a hub for community meetings in an abandoned cinema building. This is a new strory of #CloseEast112 project.

As part of the project CloseEast112, we go on telling about people who make Donbass better for fellow countrymen and closer to the whole country. This film is presented by the 112 Ukraine TV channel in the framework of the project with the Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI II), funded by the US agency of international development USAID. It is devoted to the people of Donbas region who have managed to change their lives in spite of the war unfolding in Eastern Ukraine.
