A new German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel is visiting Ukraine today.

He will meet Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Parliament’s Speaker Andriy Parubiy and his Ukrainian counterpart – Pavlo Klimkin.

Gabriel became the head of German Foreign Ministry in late January, replacing Frank-Walter Steinmeier. For a long time he was a vice chancellor and leader of the Social Democratic Party.

Before his visit to Ukraine, Gabriel met with Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, who currently chairs the OSCE. They talked in particular about the prospective of increasing the monitoring mission in Donbas and improving of its equipment.
