Negotiations on release of BBC Caribbean crew underway, - Ukraine

The pirates who captured eight sailors (one Ukrainian and seven Russians) not far from the Nigerian coastline are negotiating with the group of authorized envoys. Vasyl Kyrylych, the Chief of Consulate Support Department of the State Consulate Service at Ukraine's Foreign Ministry reported that in his commentary for Radio Liberty.

The negotiation group set contact with the kidnappers.

The pirates stated their demands and confirmed that the crew of the BBC Caribbean feels fine.

The incident took place in February 8. Both Ukraine and Russia have condemned the raid and capture of their citizens.
