The Iranian delegation came to Kyiv so as to apologize for the downed civilian aircraft of Ukraine's International Airlines. It is also expected to clear the air regarding all circumstances of the tragedy.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said that the sides would also discuss compensations to the families of victims, as well as passing the black boxes to Ukraine. On January 19, Iran decided to decrypt the data on its own, abstaining from passing them to any other country.

As is known, the Ukrainian aircraft was downed by two missiles fired from the AA defense system. The missile launcher's operator failed to recognize the object on the radar as the civilian aircraft. The strike killed all 176 people aboard; 11 of them were Ukrainian citizens.
