IOC bans 15 Russian athletes and coaches from participation in 2018 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee decided not to invite the delegation of 13 Russian athletes and two coaches, who had been previously justified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This was mentioned in the message on the organization's website.

The IOC claims that every particular case was considered separately; however, despite the court decision, the Committee expressed doubts whether the Russian athletes are 'clear' of the performance-enhancing substances.

Last week, the CAS allowed the appeal of 28 Russian athletes regarding the IOC's decision, under which they were banned from participation in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Besides, the Russian athletes re-gained some of the medals they had claimed during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, amidst the doping scandal. The court ruled that there were not enough evidence to prove their participation in the scandal.
