The French presidential candidate Francois Fillon calls anti-Russian sanctions by the EU to be pointless. The front runner of the election race said this on Monday in Berlin after the meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The conservative candidate also noted that Europe need to seek new ways for the dialogue with the Russian Federation. As it was reported earlier, the EU prolonged the sanctions against Russia until July 31.

Meanwhile many officials speak for the softening the sanctions; one of them is Austrian foreign minister Sebastian Kurz, who is also the current chief of the OSCE.
