Viktor Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine, is going to get himself more legal aid in court. He will get a free lawyer who is to be appointed by the government, as Yanukovych had called back his defenders earlier.

The ex-official passed the respective appeal to Obolon district court in Kyiv, which considers his case in Ukraine, while Yanukovych flees from justice in Rostov, Russia.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office also received an appeal from Yanukovych, in which he asks the Ukrainian authority to open criminal investigation into what he called a coup d’état in Ukraine February 2014.
