Ukrainian media paints the town red as Mikheil Saakashvili, former Georgian president returned from Poland to Ukraine with a huge scandal. The ex-governor of Odesa region and his supporters crossed the border, violating the procedure and thus breaking the Ukrainian law.

The witnesses and the media report that the stateless ex-official literally broke into Ukraine, because the crowd that gathered at the checkpoint broke through the border from the Ukrainian side and got into a fight with the border guards who were in the transit zone.

The law enforcers had firearms but abstained from using them, merely letting the crowd onto the Ukrainian territory. Saakashvili and his supporters face charges under several articles of Ukraine’s criminal code.
