Five years ago, on February 19, 2014, the participants in the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine survived the most brutal attack on their camp site in the downtown Kyiv.

The riot police and police special forces assaulted Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, trying to sweep off the protesters. At midnight, the Alpha team set the Trade Union House on fire. This killed many injured activists who found shelter inside the building. The protesters used Molotov cocktails and set fire walls to keep the attackers away.

By the morning of February 20, the assault was repelled. Over 30 people were killed in bloody street fights on February 18 and 19. More than 200 were wounded.
