About 50 Crimean Tatars were detained in Moscow, just because they came to a rally to support their compatriots in the annexed Crimea. The Russian police checked the IDs of protesters and detained them.

Last December, four Crimean Tatars were detained within the trumped-up case of Hizb-Ut Tahrir in Crimea. This organization is banned in Russia. Russian law enforcers persecute those suspected as its members since the occupation of Crimea in 2014.
