Leaders of Crimean Tatars Akhtem Chyigoz and Ilmi Umerov landed in Boryspil international airport in Kyiv. The former political prisoners finally walk free after being held in detention in the Russian-annexed Crimea.

Previously, they were arrested, judged and sentenced for resisting the Russian occupant authorities in Crimea. On Wednesday, they were unexpectedly released from detention and went to Turkey by plane.

It is still unknown, which was Russia’s condition to release them. According to Chyigoz and Umerov, they were forced to sign the petition for Putin’s presidential pardon, but none of them did it. The officials said they will carry on with their struggle to liberate Crimea.
