Pechersky district court in Kyiv continues looking into the case of Ukraine’s ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

The former leader, charged with the state treason, refuses to attend the court sessions. On Thursday, his lawyer Vitaliy Serdyuk claimed Yanukovych faces numerous threats in Russia; nevertheless, the ex-president is unlikely to return to Ukraine, since he fears for his life in this country as well.

‘The Ukrainian government and Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine did nothing to investigate the attempt on Yanuvkoych’s life in February 2014,’ Serdyuk said.
