The so-called Azov package of sanctions was approved in Brussels, as the permanent envoys of EU member countries gathered for a session on Wednesday.

The decision stipulates that the restrictions will be imposed against eight Russian citizens behind the capture of Ukrainian sailors in the Kerch Strait in November 2018.

The new sanctions will take effect next week, when the EU will extend the personal sanctions against Crimean business entities and individuals.
