Any Ukrainian can get new ID passport since November 1

17:07, 1 November 2016

Ukrainians may now apply for two passports from now on according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers. Previously plastic cards were issued only for those applying for their first certificate of the identity and citizenship.

The Ukrainian Parliament had previously approved the obligatory transition to biometric passports for Ukrainian citizens from 14 years old.

The document will be issued for 4 years for the persons under 18 and for 10 years for the rest of the citizens.

In addition, ordinary paper passports will not be issued since November.

However, paper citizenship and identity certificates will be still valid until their expiration date.
