A disturbing rate of diphtheritis morbidity is observed in Ukraine. Out of 20 cases this year, 18 were observed this month. The Public Health Centre of Ukraine's Healtchare Ministry reported that, saying that these cases are confirmed in five regions across the country.

As of Tuesday evening, three cases have been observed in Kyiv since the beginning of the year. As is known, diphtheritis is an infectious disease, which resembles the symptoms of sore throat, with the increased body temperature, the pain and pellicle in throat.

The only way to treat the disease is a vaccine, which Ukraine lacks badly; according to the Healthcare Ministry, currently, there are only 140 vaccine doses in this country. Both children and adults can get vaccinated; the adults are recommended to get new inoculations every ten years.
