The 11th international championship on squash, Zenit Black Sea Open 2021 took place in Odesa.
The players from England, Australia, Germany, Wales, Egypt, Romania, the U.S., Moldova, Belarus, and other countries participated in the competitions, as well as athletes from Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytsk, Poltava, Kherson, and Odesa.
Winner at the PRO category among men (the main category of the championship) became squash player from Egypt Mohamed Ahmed; while Anastasiia Kostyukova from Ukraine occupied first place among women. The championship lasted four days.
Organizers of the competitions, Dmytro Shcherbakov and Maskym Urakin stated the necessity to popularize squash in particular and sport through the support of the competitions and involvement of the Ukrainian business in the sports support. The main goal of the championship is the enhancing of the sport and cultural ties between the countries and athletes, popularization and development of the squash in Ukraine, as well as the increase of the skills of the young squash players.
Zenit Black Sea Open is the largest international squash championship in the history of independent Ukraine.
As we reported, Ukrainian Maksym Koval has won the competition in the shot put at Tokyo Paralympics with the world record. He put the how with the result 17.34 meters. Another Ukrainian Oleksandr Yarovy has won the silver medal. Greek Efstratios Nikolaidis occupied third place.
