Spokesperson of President Yulia Mendel leaves her position; however, she will continue to work at the President's Office of Ukraine at the position of the adviser on international communications as Detector Media reported citing Adviser of the President’s Office’s Head Mykhailo Podolyak.
“Yulia Mendel continues to fulfill duties of the spokesperson of the President of Ukraine – temporarily, until the processes end of re-organization of the communication work of the President’s Office. The decision is made to enhance particular communication directions,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to the adviser of the President’s Office, after the end of the process of re-organization, Mendel will work on communication with foreign media.
“Today, communications of initiatives of the president for foreign users demand significant enhancement. Yulia Mendel has excellent communications in this sphere of media society and can be effective as the adviser on the international communications. Correspondingly, the position of the spokesperson of the president will be separated to independent functions, it will be specified and occupied,” Podolyak explained.
As we reported, Yulia Mendel, the press Secretary of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky filed a resignation letter. This was announced by a source in the President's Office.
While working in the Office of the President, Mendel has repeatedly been in scandalous situations. At the very beginning of her work, the president's press secretary publicly announced the shelling of civilian objects by Ukrainian servicemen in Donbas. Later, Mendel pushed away journalists who wanted to ask Zelensky questions. Also before the official visit to Lithuania, the press secretary confused the country with Latvia.
