President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will definitely take place. He would like to hold it in the Vatican. Volodymyr Zelensky stated it in an interview with La Repubblica as the President’s Office reported.
“Vatican is really a perfect place for a dialogue on peace. The Holy See is the global moral authority that always effectively plays the role of mediator as it inspires confidence in all partakers of the conflict,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky also stated that the meeting with Vladimir Putin will definitely take place as it is necessary to stop the war in Donbas.
Last week, Ukrainian President Zelensky offered his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to meet in any location of Donbas where there's a war going on.
"Mr. Putin! I'm ready to go even further and offer you to meet in any location of Ukrainian Donbas, where there's a war going on," he said.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin replied to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky's offer about the meeting in Donbas. The politician said he was ready to meet in the Russian capital.
"If he wants to discuss issues related to Donbas, he should meet with leaders of DNR and LNR first (DNR, LNR - abbreviations for self-proclaimed "people's republics" in eastern Ukraine, - 112 International), and then with the Russian leader. But if he wants to discuss bilateral relations, he's welcome in Moscow at any convenient time", Putin said.
Later, it was reported that Zelensky’s team is not ready to invite Putin in Kyiv.
