Zelensky warns about possible risks on new energy market

At the session of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, the President noted the necessity for total monopolization of the energy markets of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine concerning energy security on Friday, May 31. The press service of the head of state reports this.

According to the report, the President reminded that one of Ukraine's commitments to the European Union was the reform of the energy sector with the demonopolization of energy markets being the key issue. Starting from July 1, the next stage of the electricity market should start.

"However, in conditions of total monopolization, there may be risks for producers, for consumers and for the Ukrainian economy as a whole. The international partners warn us against that," Zelensky emphasized.

According to the report, today, the issues of energy sector were discussed at the meeting, and appropriate decisions will be made in two weeks.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has approved the new membership of the National Security and Defense Council(NSDC).

Zelensky amended the membership of the NSDC by his order. Particularly, Zelensky himself became the NSDC Chairman.
