"During a working trip to Donetsk region, President of Ukraine got acquainted with the situation on the front line in the JFO area, as well as with the conditions of service and deployment of the Ukrainian military at the forefront," it was reported.
Zelensky presented state awards and watches to five fighters of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces.
The president also paid tribute to the Hero of Ukraine, deputy battalion commander of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade Andriy Kyzyl, laying flowers at the monument to the defenders of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.
Zelensky laid flowers to the Memorial Wall of the militaries died for Ukraine, which is located near St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv.
"The Head of State together with his wife laid flowers and put icon lamps near the Memorial Wall with the names of servicemen and law enforcement officials perished in the struggle for unity of Ukraine and honored their memory with a moment of silence," reads the message.
It is known that the President of Ukraine is going to have a working visit in Donetsk region where he intends to visit the Headquarters of the Joint Forces and met with the militaries.
Today, on October 14, Ukraine marks the Defender of Ukraine Day. This is a day of honouring the courage and heroism of defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Since 2015, this day is a day off. In addition, the holiday coincides with the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Protection of the Holy Virgin.
