President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky urged Russia to stop the war to save the children’s lives on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression as he reported on Facebook after arrival in Brussels.
“Ahead of us the number of meetings at the highest level. But I cannot stop thinking about 5-year-old Kyrylo. And hundreds of other children, who died from the bullets of adults in the east of Ukraine. According to the UN monitoring mission, as of June 1, 2019, about 147 little Ukrainians died in Donbas. 98 boys. 49 girls. 363 children are injured. About 200,000 children are internally displaced persons. Almost 23,000 children got the status of the victims of war. This war turned out to be psychological, sexual, physical abuse for tens of thousands people,” Zelensky wrote.
He emphasized that today he intends to remind the European partners of Ukraine about these numbers and urged Russia to stop the war. “To keep the lives, particularly of children”, he specified.
Meanwhile, he recognized that only urges will not help: “That is why my talks with leaders of Europe will begin today with the question – how will we together put pressure on the aggressor? How will we force it to establish peace?”.
“I believe that together we will find the solution. Maybe not today but we will definitely find it. We are obliged to find, for children,” Zelensky noted.
