Zelensky urges parliament to consider bill on restriction of MP’s immunity

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky sent the letter with a request to urgently consider the draft law on the restriction of MPs’ immunity to Parliamentary Speaker Andriy Parubiy, as 112 Ukraine reported citing Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Representative of President in Parliament.

“Last week, the draft law #10340 on a special procedure of the removing of the President of Ukraine from the post (impeachment) was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by President of Ukraine to fulfill his promises. Moreover, President of Ukraine sent a letter to Verkhovna Rada’s Chairman with a request to urgently consider the draft law on the amendment of article of the Constitution of Ukraine on the immunity of the MPs,” Stefanchuk said.

He added that the president registered the draft law on the voting rights of military last week.

“I want to appeal with the request that all these issues need the exceptional preparation and consideration and defined by the president as urgent. So I ask to find a possibility of the cooperation on these draft laws”.

Parliamentary Speaker Andriy Parubiy assured: “Of course, all legislative initiatives of the president, defined as urged, will be considered in the session hall”.

As we reported, President Zelensky submitted the draft law on impeachment to the consideration. Besides, he will sign the law with the norms on impeachment if the document is of good quality.

The bills on impeachment and on the lifting of parliamentary immunity are prepared, as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Ruslan Ryaboshapka stated.
